Marketers increasingly planning, buying and measuring TV and online video together

Spending on online video in alignment with TV advertising is a promising trend for marketers as they seek to broaden reach and interact with consumers on multiple screens. The synergy can be complicated, though, given a lack of unified measurement and the nascence of the online video market. An April 2012 study by video advertising company Adap.TV and DIGIDAY considered the media alignment trend and uncovered some insights into what agencies are using to measure the effect of both online video and TV.
About half of brand advertisers and agencies polled in North America believed that, out of the major advertising channels, the one most appropriate to align with online video was TV. Forty percent, though, said online video should be more aligned with display advertising, and 11% said “neither.”

Users Tune in to Online Video in Canada, Ad Spending Follows

By: Emarketer | Tuesday May 7, 2012

Online video’s popularity among internet users in Canada is taking off, and marketers are investing heavily in the format. eMarketer estimates that online video ad spending in Canada more than doubled from CA$37 million in 2010 ($37.4 million) to CA$84.6 million ($85.5 million) in 2011, and is forecast to increase 67.2% in 2012 to CA$141.5 million ($142.9 million).
There is good reason to be bullish. According to the March 2012 “Canada Video Study” from Google and Ipsos MediaCT, almost two-fifths of internet users indicated that they spent as much or more time watching online video than they did watching TV.
On average, respondents watched 7.7 online videos per week, while 30% watched eight or more and 11% watched 20 or more videos per week.

What is Motion Graphics Video?

By: Videyah! | Friday, May 4 2012

Motion Graphics video production process starts with gathering video assets and checking their quality. Logos, product pictures and video clips are the usual visual assets that businesses want to incorporate into their videos. If you don’t have your own video assets, that’s not a problem - extensive image and video footage libraries usually have a wide range of commercial-quality images and HD video clips that can fit any project.

2D Animation Makes Your Video More Interesting

Animations are created by recording a series of still images such as drawings, objects or people in various positions of movement. When played as one continuous image the still images create an illusion of a movement. 2D animation, motion graphics and illustrations help visually execute your script and make it more interesting. Expertise in composition and color matching combined with technical skills such as camera positioning, lighting intensity, 3D layering, motion tracking and the latest advertising techniques are needed to produce a project that will grab attention, captivate and make your products look alluring.

Tell your story with 2D Animation

3D Animation Brings Products To Life

The most common type of animation for a long time was two-dimensional (2D animation) but technological advances in digital media have allowed animators to utilize tree-dimensional (3D animation) computer generated animation. These new technologies reduced production time and cost, making animation more common in multiple advertising mediums such as TV, Internet and mobile. The use of animation in commercials and web video is continuing to increase. Marketing professionals have recognized animation as a creative advertising tool for the number of advantages it has to offer.
3D modeled and manipulated animation adds depth and offers multiple perspectives just like in real life. Techniques such as 3D modeling, mapping, texturing, rigging and skinning will bring your products to life and help you persuade.

Visual effects increase video appeal, preference and likelihood to watch again. A recent visual effects study shows that inclusion of visual effects increased purchase intent of the test group by 8%.

Online Video Marketing Guide: Script Writing

5 Tips How To Improve Your Video Script

  • Writing a great script requires hard work but it pays off if you do it right. Start by analyzing your target audience to be able to tailor the message to them.
  • Use short sentences, simple language and avoid industry jargon. Based on research 30-60s is the most effective video length. Once you get above that you better have some great content, or you’ll start losing viewers fast.
  • Open with fire. The first 3 seconds are crucial for a successful video.  If you grab attention in the first frame with a visual surprise, you stand a better chance of holding the viewer.
  • Start with a great pitch and quickly convey the core message behind your products or services. Relate to viewers by providing personal, engaging, unique and useful information.
  • Finally, end your script with a call to action – a next step the viewer can take to get started.

Mobile Video on Pace to Surpass Web Video in 2012

By: MediaPost | Wednesday, May 2 2012

The mobile video ad market will surpass the online video ad market later this year.
That’s a bold prediction, but it’s one Tod Sacerdoti, CEO of ad network BrightRoll is making based on ad requests he’s seen. “It’s happening fast and people are not quite comprehending the speed. By the end of this year we are pretty confident that more than half of all digital video ads will be mobile,” he said.
In March alone, more than 40% of the global video exchange requests at BrightRoll were for mobile. A year ago that figure was less than 5%, underscoring the rapid trajectory for mobile video, especially in the last few months. Sacerdoti said the number of global mobile ad requests BrightRoll handles has grown 4000% in the last year. Web requests are still rising too, at about 645% year over year.
One of the benefits of mobile video ads is they are often brand safe from the get-go, and are served to us in popular apps like Angry Birds, Draw Something, and Pandora, Sacerdoti said.
As such, he expects the growth in mobile video advertising will spread well beyond the premium big name publishers. “You have an enormous influx of supply and this is almost universally good for marketers. For publishers this may be a different group though, and publishers who have a strong business online might not be as meaningful on mobile.”
